The word “anime” is no stranger to the youth today. The word “Anime” basically means Japanese Animated series usually based on a manga( Japanese hand-drawn comics) or a light novel. Animes are commonly mistaken to be cartoons for children, but the cartoons that are being talked about are kodomo ( an anime genre that consists of an ime for children). Most of the anime are works of fiction but still, they are just steps away from reality. They come with mind-blowing plots and well-written protagonists and antagonists. Some of the most famous anime in the world are Death Note, Dragon Ball Series, Naruto, etc. Listed below are 5 must-watch anime for beginners.
Death Note ( Netflix)
What is the correct meaning of death? What happens after a person dies? What would the world look like without criminals or bad people? What is Justice? These are some questions that might cross your mind after watching this anime that is considered a masterpiece by many. The anime is based on the Death Note manga written by Tsugumi Ohba and illustrated by Takeshi Obata. The story revolves around the life of Light Yagami, a teenager who has a sharp mind and discovers a mysterious notebook that has the power to kill a person only with the requirements: a name that has to be written and the face of the person in the writer’s mind while writing the name. Light uses the notebook to kill all the criminals and purify the world and proclaims himself as the God of the New World “Kira”. His ideology and his actions are challenged by a mysterious detective “L” who seems to share brain cells with Light. The show has 37 episodes in total and is a must-watch.
Naruto ( Netflix)
If your younger brother keeps yelling “Dattebayo!” and makes random hand signs, don’t worry he is watching Naruto, he doesn’t need therapy. Naruto is based on the life of Naruto Uzumaki, a resident of the hidden leaf village who aspires to become the Hokage (the leader of the village). He is accompanied by his comrades Sasuke Uchiha who is the last descendant of the Uchiha Clan and Sakura Haruno, A cute girl who does….. `….. nothing! And their sensei(teacher) Kakashi Hatake “The Copy Ninja ”. Naruto is an anime filled with loads of emotions like sorrow, happiness, hate, indifference, seasons, and 130 episodes and is available for streaming on Netflix. It is considered as one of the best anime of the 90’s generation and is one anime that will help you become a weeb.
Parasyte: The Maxim
The story of this anime revolves around the life of Izumi Shinichi who is a high school student in the Kanto region of Japan. Some mysterious creatures – “parasites” invade the planet Earth and have the ability to eat the human brain and take over their bodies. A Parasyte tries to takeover Izumi’s body but fails and ends up becoming his right hand. With the power of his parasitic hand which he likes to call – “migi”, Izumi vows to save his people from the threat of Parasites. The show was released in 2014 and consists of 24 trail-blazing episodes. The show comes with a lot of life lessons and shows a mirror to humans and tells them about their actions towards the lives of other organisms and their consequences that the world might have to deal with in near future and the possible outcome of all the things happening in the world today.
Erased is a murder-mystery classic 12 episode anime that revolves around the life of Satoru Fujinuma, a young wannabe manga writer who has a special power that sends him back in time whenever something wrong happens around him. The same power sends him back to his childhood to help save her mother and his childhood crush/friend Kayo Hinazuki. Satoru has to live inside the body of an eight-year-old kid to save lives and find out who murdered Kayo and his mom. Erased is one of the best thriller anime there is and has a flawless story and direction. The anime has such a suspense story and still wraps it up in 12 – 20 minute episodes. The show is a visual treat to any person and is a favorite among the shonen genre.
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba (Netflix)
Demon Slayer is one of the top-grossing anime today, animated by ufotable. The Demon Slayer manga is already quite famous among the otakus and weebs and the anime turned out to be equally awesome with its great animations and direction. The plot of the anime is based on the life of Kamado Tanjiro who wants to kill all the demons and take revenge on the demon lord “Muzan Kibitsuji” for slaughtering his family members and turning his sister Nezuko into a Demon. Demon Slayer has one of the best visuals in anime with flawless character designs and voice acting and is available on Netflix for streaming. The show has a total of 26 episodes and a 2-hour movie which became the most seen anime movie in all of Europe and America is merely a month. The second season of the show confirmed as of 19/5/2021 will start airing in October 2021. The show is one heck of a show and is a must-watch for a beginner.
