He started his career in the 2004 show business when the debut album Ishq Da Uda Adaa came in. And no one can miss his performance as a police officer in the 2016 drug-based crime thriller movie Udta Punjab sharing screen space with other actors including Kareena Kapoor, Shahid Kapoor, and Alia Bhatt. Ik Kudi, the song sung by Diljit from this film became very popular.

Diljit Dosanjh belongs from Punjab. He was born in 1984 on January 6 in Jalandhar. He has two siblings, one elder sister and one younger brother Manjeet Singh. Diljit comes from very humble family background. His father Balbir Singh earned a mere $66 a month as a bus driver. Diljit did his schooling at Shri Guru Harkishan primary school. He later joined high school Almanar public school from Ludhiana.
From a very young age, Diljit had developed a great passion for singing performing at local gurudwaras. According to him, it made him feel like fulfilling his childhood dream. His first stage performance came when he tried his best to calm down the impatient audience for the arrival of a Punjabi singer Master Saleem who came very late to the show. Dosanjh Kalan is the place where he spent his childhood days until he relocated to Ludhiana.

Ishq Ho Gaya was his fourth album that came out in 2006, followed by Chocolate in 2008, his fifth album. In the successive year 2009, Diljit returned with four singles – Bhagat Singh, No Tension, Power of Duets, and Dance with Me. After these, the Punjabi singer came with his 6th album named The Next Level in 2010. A song – Mel Karade Rabba also came for the feature film sharing a similar title.
After making his mark as a singer, Diljit stepped into the acting field in the Punjabi film industry with his debut film The Lion of Punjabi in 2011. But sadly, the film failed to make an impressive mark on the audience. But a song from the movie Lak 28 Kudi Da became a success. In his next film Jihne Mera Dil Luteya, Diljit sang six tracks in his own voice.
He also partnered with Punjabi rapper Honey Singh for a single that displayed the involvement of minor girls in alcohol and drugs. Later on, both the singing stalwarts together made an album. Diljit sang for Tere Nach Love Ho Gaya, a Bollywood film that came in 2o12. In the same year, he came up with his first devotional Sikh album and got a leading role in Jatt & Juliet, a Punjabi film.
Then in 2016, Diljit Dosanjh made his Bollywood debut in the crime thriller film Udta Punjab, sharing screen space with Kareena Kapoor, Shahid Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and other co-actors. Then came to his second film Phillauri in 2017 opposite Anushka Sharma. After these films, more other film projects followed with films like Soorma and New York in 2018. But both these films bombed at the box office.
However, he tasted success with his 2019 film Shadaa that did well at the box office. The singer-actor again got success with a film that starred Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor, and Kiara Advani. It was Good News. Besides singing and acting in films, Diljit also became a brand endorser of Coca-Cola in Punjab and sports ambassador in the pro-Kabaddi League.
