If you want to pursue the B.com course then, it is required to have completed Class 12th in either of the streams i.e., Science, Arts, or Commerce. It should be kept in mind that it is an undergraduate or graduate degree in commerce of 3 years in total.

However, it is a multi-disciplinary course, and candidates from any stream can enroll in it, but students from commerce are given preference. There are 2 types of B.com courses. These are B.com (Regular) and B.com (Hons). Both of the courses have the same duration of 3 years. 

Difference between B.com and B.com (Hons)

The major difference between the two courses which are almost similar is of the Hierarchy/Level. The B.com (Hons) course is considered more crucial and worthy and is also higher in level than the regular B.com program. Both of these courses are undergraduate level. B.Com (Hons) students study at a higher level than typical B.Com students. B.Com honors courses feature specialized disciplines, whereas B.Com standard courses include a broad range of topics. In comparison to standard B.com, the subjects in B.com (Hons) are more progressive and detailed. Students who have taken Mathematics in class 12th can take admission in B.com (Hons) and students who have not studied Mathematics can enroll in the regular B.com program.

Eligibility Criteria for B.com

  • Candidates who have passed the class 12th with an aggregate of 50%.
  • You should have a Mathematics subject for B.com (Hons) from a recognized board.
  • All the students from any stream either Science/Commerce/Arts can apply for the B.com course

Admission Process for B.com 

There are various colleges that offer the B.com or B.com (Hons) course in their curriculum. The admission process for this course also differs in some universities. Commonly, students are admitted to B.Com on the basis of their academic performance in class 12th. The colleges release the merit list which is calculated based on the candidate’s achievement in higher secondary school. While some universities take entrance exams to give admission to the B.com course. The cut-off lists are calculated according to the marks obtained in the entrance test. In this way, students should first check the admission criteria of the particular college or university to be ready for enrollment.

B.com Course Fee Structure

The 3 yearly UG degree of B.com is not much expensive if compared to the other courses. Bachelor of Commerce course fees are between Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 1,00,000 for the full program. However, the fee for the B.com course is less expensive in government universities as compared to the private university. But, the total fees of a B.Com degree vary depending on the institution.
